Bing Wallpaper Turns a Desktop Click Into a Daily Search Redirect
Quick Report
The Bing Wallpaper app reportedly opens Bing.com when users click an unused part of the desktop, even if that click was not intended to launch a browser. Windows Latest found the redirect can happen once every 24 hours and still occurs when another browser is set as the Windows default.
An earlier version of the app offered a control for this behavior, but the current release reportedly has no equivalent opt-out. The app has also been prompting users to make Bing their default search provider. Anyone who wants rotating desktop images without the redirect can switch to Windows Spotlight or another wallpaper tool.
