AMD Investigating Data Breach as Claimed by a Hacker

AMD, one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies, is currently investigating a potential data breach after a hacker claimed to have stolen sensitive information from the company. The user goes by the name of “IntelBroker” said he has obtained data on future products/IP, customer database, financial records and more.

AMD did give a initial statement to Reuters said they are working with law enforcement agencies and third party hosting partners to investigate the claims. AMD stock has traded down slowly by 2.38% on 18 June 2024. According to HackRead, the data can be categorized into 2 categories namely IP/Product info and Business info. The hacker also claims to have access to firmware,ROMs, source code, IP files, future products and its specifications. The business info includes Employee User ID, customer databases, employee databases, job designation, business phone numbers and financial records.

IntelBroker’s reputation is very known since he has disclosed past data breaches with the following: HSBC, Barclays, T-Mobile, Los Angeles International Airport, Europol, Home Depot, Acuity Inc., and Facebook Marketplace.
